  • Non-Lucrative Visa (NLV): For retirees or self-sufficient individuals. Requires proof of funds (400% of IPREM/year ≈€30,000) and private health insurance. No work allowed, even remotely 3.

  • Digital-Nomad Visa: For remote workers employed by non-Spanish companies. Requires contract, 3+ months of employment, and ≤20% income from Spanish clients. Faster path to permanent residency (after 5 years)

Yes you do, even as an EU-citizen you need to apply for residency if you wish to live for extended periods of time in Spain. EU and EEA citizens may live up to 6 months without becoming a resident.

 As a non-EU citizen, you will be in one of two categories:

  1. Without a residency card from another Schengen-area country: you will not be able to stay in Spain for more than 90 days per every 6-month period. This is irrespective of whether you come from a visa-free country or you need a Schengen visa to travel to Spain.
  2. With a residency card from another Schengen-area country: legally, the maximum stay period of a resident of a Schengenland country in another, is 3 months.

The limited time for non EU citizens which can be spent in any European country, is 90 days in any is 183 day period.

Once having been registered as an EU resident for 5 years, the registrant will eligible for a long term residency permit which entitles them a continous 5 year residence permit and the option to apply for citizenship at the renewal of this residency permit.

It is required to provide a Bank certificate which demonstrates as having sufficient resources for the applicant and your family.

Specifically, yes you can, in fact, it is normal for applicants to apply together with their families. Not only can applicants bring their children under 18 years of age (or over 18 that are dependents), but also their parents provided they are dependents.
