1) Counting Down the Days:
The application period is finite. With the deadline set for 30 June 2026, as of today, 21 June 2026, there are just 09 days remaining to submit your application.
This is not a process that can be completed at the last minute. The Spanish authorities have emphasised that this window is not expected to be extended or reopened. Once 30 June passes, this extraordinary pathway will close.
2) Why Time is of the Essence:
While 12 days might sound like enough time, building a successful application requires gathering substantial documentation. The quality of your documentary evidence is the single greatest factor separating a smooth application from a rejection.
You will need to prove:
- Presence in Spain before 1 January 2026
- Continuous residence for at least five months immediately prior to application
- A clean criminal record from Spain and your country of origin
These documents must be dated, nominative, and consistent across all sources—something that takes time to compile properly
3) Two Pathways Available:
The Royal Decree 316/2026 creates two distinct pathways:
Pathway 1 – For International Protection Applicants
For those who submitted, registered, or formalised an asylum claim before 1 January 2026.
Pathway 2 – Arraigo Extraordinario
For people in irregular situations who were in Spain before 1 January 2026 and can evidence work history, family ties in Spain, or a certified situation of vulnerability.
Choosing the correct pathway for your circumstances is critical—applying via the wrong route is one of the most common causes of rejection.
4) What Happens When You Apply:
Once your application formally enters processing, you receive provisional authorisation to live and work in Spain while a decision is made. The maximum resolution period is three months, and if approved, the effect is backdated to your submission date.
4) Don’t Wait:
The application window closes on 30 June 2026. With only a few days remaining, there is no time to delay. The administrative process of gathering foreign criminal record certificates, building a coherent documentary file spanning months of residence, and presenting everything in the required format takes longer than most applicants expect.
If you believe you qualify, seek legal advice immediately. A rushed application is a vulnerable one.
The deadline is 30 June 2026. Don’t miss this opportunity.
